I have been intrigued lately as it seems there have been so many people dying. I am not really sure why, but it struck me that there are really many people either being killed or dying from an accident or natural causes. When I start to look at these kinds of things, I am always drawn to data. What does the data say? For example; there are approximately 329,354,562 citizens of the United States. This places us third in population behind China (1,434,645,625) and close on its heels is India (1,368,417,073). The USA at third is not even close.
So how many people are really being killed or are dying of various causes in the USA. I thought it would be informational to look at it for a minute.
How many people die daily in the USA from all causes? According to the United Nations World Population Prospects report, approximately 7,452 people die every day in the United States. In other words, a person dies in the US approximately every 12 seconds. You can see a live clock keeping track of how many people have died today at https://www.indexmundi.com/clocks/indicator/deaths/united-states. That’s a lot of people every day.
What are they dying from? According to my research Americans are dying from a bunch of strange things.
Almost 112,000 die annually from obesity.
6,000 die while texting and driving
450 die from falling out of bed
550 people die from Black Friday shopping
70 die from eating Hot Dogs
34 are killed by dogs
340 fall in the bath tub and die.
I guess as I reviewed these strange facts I was reminded of one thing. Live each day to its fullest. Don’t take the little things for granted. Live each day to its fullest…bears repeating.
There are a lot of dangerous people out there. They want us to fear. They want us to cower in fear at home. I can’t fully understand why. Why does robbing you and I of happiness and fulfillment bring these people some strange sort of glee? It is beyond my ability to understand. We live in a world where there is so much more than meets the eye. Stay attentive to what is happening around you. Enjoy your life.
